Overview

OpenDesign turns a brief into prototypes, decks, and visual assets with a coding agent. Keep the work as editable files, guided by reusable design systems and skills.

About

OpenDesign is a desktop design workspace that uses coding agents to turn briefs into prototypes, landing pages, dashboards, decks, images, and video. It works with agents such as Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor, or with your own model provider API key. Projects live as editable files in a folder on your computer, with exports including HTML, PDF, PNG, and PowerPoint for decks. The desktop app is free and open source under Apache-2.0. You can start without an OpenDesign account by using a local coding agent or your own API key. OpenDesign Cloud adds hosted models, share links, and team collaboration through paid plans.

Good for

  • — Turn a brief into an interactive product prototype
  • — Create dashboards, landing pages, decks, and visual assets with a coding agent
  • — Keep design systems and generated interfaces in a project folder
  • — Hand editable design files to engineering

Limitations

  • — Local setup requires a supported coding agent or a model provider API key.
  • — OpenDesign Cloud requires an account and a paid plan for hosted model credits.
  • — Your own API key can generate designs but cannot edit project files. Use a local agent for file editing.
  • — OpenDesign does not host or publish finished applications.
